Today we learn of the death of a greatly skilled actor and brilliant screen performer, Philip Seymour Hoffman. In the past 22 years, Hoffman has been consistently entertaining millions of us in dark movie theaters – transporting us to many interesting and glorious settings and stories. Today’s news is describing just one more celebrity who falls victim to addiction. Alcohol and drug addiction does not discriminate. It doesn’t care of you are homeless, unemployed and struggling with the basics of life, or a successful surgeon, attorney, clergy, or an actor. The disease of addiction’s goals are: to get you isolated and that you finally succumb to its powerful attraction. I must admit, Mr. Hoffman was one of my favorite actors, up there with Judy Dench. I am saddened that I will no longer see him morph into characters that are both entertaining and intriguing, like his Oscar-winning performance as Truman Capote!
If you, or a loved one is suffering with addiction – please do not hesitate and contact Dr. Heran at Main Line Recovery today! I pray for his family and loved ones grieving his loss.
